LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
As an organization, PASC recognizes the past, and ongoing, damaging effects of colonial and institutional systems on Indigenous people and communities and commits to working towards an inclusive and equitable society for Indigenous people in Canada. PASC supports and will, within its organizational purview, actively engage in the 10 Principles of Reconciliation outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. PASC is cognizant of the devastation that prejudice and the dismissal of rights and humanity can have on groups of people; we are committed to listen, learn, and act, as called upon by the communities we live in and alongside.
In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika (six-ih-GAH), Piikani (bee-GAH-nee), and Kainai (GUY-nah) First Nations, the Tsuut’ina (soot-IN-uh) First Nation, the Îyârhe Nakoda (Ae-yar-hay Na-koh-da), Nations of Bearspaw, Chikini and Goodstoney, as well as the Metis People of Alberta Region 3 and we express our gratitude for their stewardship of these beautiful lands and their contributions to our community and culture.
